The Netherlands is a paradise for recreational anglers. With thousands of kilometres of ditches, waterways, canals, ponds and rivers, there is almost nowhere in the world with so much fishable water available. You can fish most of it with a single document: the VISpas. The VISpas is your written permission to fish in a huge number of Dutch waters. Together with the Lijsten van Viswateren this pass serves as proof that you are allowed to fish here. You must always have both with you while fishing. Prefer not to carry a paper booklet? The free VISplanner app is a fully legally valid digital replacement.
Why do you need the VISpas?
With the VISpas you show that you are a member of an angling club that is affiliated with the Sportvisunie. This membership gives you the right to:
To fish with a maximum of two rods
To use all legally permitted bait types
To fish in all waters from the Joint List of Dutch Fishing Waters

Ordering is quick and easy. After payment via iDEAL, VISA or MasterCard you will immediately receive your temporary fishing pass in your email and the accompanying List(s) of Fishing Waters. That way you can immediately get on the water and fish in thousands of waters across the Netherlands.
Fish planner
The VISplanner is the easiest way to see where you may fish with your VISpas. Instead of the paper booklet you simply open the app or website and immediately see on the map which waters are permitted. If you tap a water, you immediately get extra information, from permitted bait types to rules regarding night fishing or permission to use a third rod. The VISplanner is fully legally valid and therefore a full replacement for the paper list. So you always have the right information on hand, wherever you are.

Fisheries law and regulations
As an angler you are subject to various rules that ensure we fish responsibly together. Think, for example, of closed seasons for fish species, minimum sizes and the use of certain types of bait. Specific rules also apply to night fishing, which can vary by body of water.
How much does the fishing permit cost
A VISpas costs on average approximately €35,00 per year. When you become a member of an angling association you automatically receive the VISpas, which is valid until and including 31 december of the current year. The price consists of three components:
A national contribution to the Sportvisunie
A federative contribution for regional efforts and advocacy
The membership fee of your angling club
