Fishing from a vessel

Recreational fishing from a vessel

You may recreationally fish from a non-fishing vessel in the fisheries zone, the sea area and the Western Scheldt. Not in the Wadden Sea.

  • For beam trawling (boomkor) the vessel may not be longer than 8 metres. You may use one beam trawl. The maximum width is 150 cm.
  • You may only use fishing boards (borden) with a vessel up to 10 metres. Fishing boards may be a maximum of 70 cm high. The top line, including bridles and cables, may not be longer than 225 cm, measured from rear to rear.
  • Return quota species such as sole, plaice, cod and whiting immediately after capture. Exception: you may keep schar and bot.
  • When catching shrimp you must have a hand sieve on board. Sieve the catch directly on board.
  • Follow the technical measures from Regulation (EU) No. 850/98. Think of mesh size, twine thickness and minimum sizes.
  • The catch is for personal use only. You may not sell or otherwise trade it.
