Lead alternatives for carp fishing
Carp anglers are increasingly finding environmentally friendly alternatives to lead. You can choose from stones, iron/steel and weighted concrete. Each material has practical advantages for different bottoms and presentations.
Materials and advantages
- Stones: naturally camouflaged. Sacks are less likely to sink into soft bottoms.
- Iron/steel: solid and durable. Often finished neatly.
- Concrete (weighted): slightly porous. You can soak it with a flavour.
These alternatives are available as swivel weights and inline variants. You can find models for different fishing styles and casting weights.
